Sarah Hunt Vasche – Staff Attorney
Sarah Hunt Vasche is Common Sense for Oregon’s Staff Attorney. Sarah joined CSFO in May 2009. Her practice areas include elections law, particularly initiative law, non-profit management, first amendment rights, and other civil rights matters. In addition to legal work, Sarah provides policy analysis and research support for CSFO. Her research interests include good government, sustainability, and public safety.
In 2008, Sarah graduated cum laude from Willamette University College of Law. At Willamette, Sarah was on the Dean’s List and received a certificate in Sustainable Environment, Energy, and Resources Law. She has worked as a policy analyst, a legislative aide, a grassroots field representative, and a waitress. Some of Sarah’s former employers include Maryland Delegate Mary Conroy, New Mexico Representative Don Tripp, Congresswoman Heather Wilson, and Oregon Senator Doug Whitsett.
Sarah is a summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of New Mexico Dudley Wynn Honors Program. She is a recipient of the UNM Dorothy Cline Scholarship (Outstanding Female Political Science Undergraduate). In college, Sarah won the Miss Las Cruces Pageant and competed in the Miss New Mexico pageant, where she was a finalist.
Sarah moved to Oregon in 2004 to marry her college sweetheart, Silverton-native Lee Vasche. She is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Association of Victim’s Rights Attorneys. She enjoys traveling to tropical beaches, attending live theater, keeping in touch with her eight younger siblings, scrapbooking, and genealogy. A home school graduate herself, Sarah volunteers her time to help home schooled young adult women transition from home schooling to college or the work force.
